The WC-8 Yoke boasts the lowest power draw of any battery operated yoke. Battery packs are supplied in 3, 7 or 12 Amp Hour configurations with either 1 or 2 connectors, with the latter allowing a 12-Volt UV Lamp to operate off the same battery. Our standard 1.5 Amp battery charger is the strongest in the industry.
The WC-8 uses Western Instruments' WC-Series Platform, which is utilized in all the WC-Series models. This Platform design is similar to our
standard W-Series Platform, but far more compact and with the Urethane Rubber housing providing superior durability in rugged environments.
This construction versatility is possible through our advanced Mechanical, Electrical, and Solid State Electronics designs. These designs permit
the WC-Series to use our standard low profile sealed membrane activation switch, continuing our philosophy for operator safety, as the switch has
a grounding provision and conducts less than 1/2 watt of power. All W-Series Yokes have more height between the operator's hand and the work
piece, which means faster inspections due to a larger view of the target area. All these advancements permit all our 12 Volt Pulsed DC Yokes to
have a 100% duty cycle!
The ergonomically designed grip, combined with WC-Series light weight, reduces operator fatigue and strain which permits longer and more
thorough inspections. The compact design allows the WC-8 to fit into tight spaces, better than our full size W-Series models. Combined with our
Universal Articulating Pole Pieces, the WC-8 can be fit to almost any configuration of work piece. Like all W-Series products, the Power Cord
Strain Relief system is the most durable in the industry, but on the WC-8 the Strain Relief can be directed up or down, permitting even better
access to confined spaces, or simply just for operator preference.
The WC-8 has a special module that converts 12 Volts DC into a pulsed signal, that allows the unit to lift over 50 pounds to comply with DC
specifications, but the pulsed DC field induces particle mobility similar to an AC Yoke. The WC-8 draws less than 1/2 Amp, so a 3.0 Amp/Hour
Battery Pack will last you a full day (based on Western Instruments' Battery Duration Tests). Western Instruments offers Battery Packs in 3.0, 7.0,
and 12 Amp hour ratings (nominal), and all three can be charged with our High Capacity Smart Charger (1.5 Amps). We also offer our exclusive
Dual Output Battery Pack, for use with our WC and W-8 Yokes, so a 12 Volt UV Lamp can be used for totally portable Wet Fluorescent Inspection. |
