PCWI Wet Sponge Low Voltage Pinhole Detector 0789 / WETSPONGE
Measuring Range: 0 to 20 mils (0 to 500 µm)
Test Voltage: Selectable 9, 67.5 or 90V
These units are also known as wet sponge testers, low voltage holiday detectors, low voltage porosity detectors or pin hole detectors.
Conforms to ASTM G62-A, NACE RP0274-98, ASTM G-6, AS3894.2 & AS1580.485.1
The PCWI 0789 Wet Sponge Low Voltage Porosity Detector is designed to non-destructively detect pinholes in coatings up to 500um using the "wet sponge method". A voltage from the battery supply is transmitted through the probe and dampened sponge attached. Because the instrument's earth is connected to the substrate, when a flaw is encountered, the conductive path is made and the alarm sounds.
The unit features three test voltage options; 9V for coatings up to 300um, 67.5V for coating assessment to ASTM standards, and 90V for coatings up to 500um.
Please note: while the PCWI Wet Sponge Detector has a maximum range of 500um, we highly recommend that coatings over 150um, or coatings in corrosive environments, be high voltage porosity tested
