    Product Description
0917 and 0923 Digital Pit Gauge, Crack and Corrosion Depth Gauges
Digital Pit, Crack and Corrosion Depth Gauges / Pipe Pit Gauges

The PCWI 0917 / 0923 Digital Pit Gauge, Crack and Corrosion Depth Gauges is precision instruments designed for fast and accurate assessment of surface condition, material loss, and structural degradation. Manufactured in Australia by PCWI, these digital gauges feature a slender needle tip capable of reaching narrow cracks, pits, scratches, and corrosion craters on external and internal surfaces of steel structures, pipes, and concrete. Available with either a 55mm or an extended 125mm foot/blade, they offer exceptional versatility for quality control and pipeline integrity inspections.

Built for demanding field environments, the PCWI Digital Depth Gauge combines a rugged stainless steel base foot with a high-precision digital indicator. It enables inspectors to measure pitting corrosion depth and crack propagation instantly with metric and imperial unit switching. The 125mm model features a wide blade that allows the dial indicator to be repositioned to the end position, making it ideal for inspecting heavily pitted work and tight corners.

    Features

    • Enables quick assessment of surface condition.
    • The slender tip allows for the depth measurement of narrow cracks and corrosion.
    • This is an essential gauge for the corrosion industry, pipeline layers and coaters, enabling them to make quick assessments of the condition of pipework during rehabilitation.
    • The PCWI Pit and Crack Depth Gauges are available with a 55mm (2-3/16") or 125mm (5") wide blades, part numbers 0917 and 0923, respectively.
    • The extended 125mm wide blade enables measurement of heavily pitted work. The dial indicator can be repositioned to the end for easy measurement of corners.
    • Available with metric and imperial units.
    • We also have available a digital surface profile gauge

The pit and crack depth gauge No. 0923 with 125mm (5") wide foot blade allows the dial indicator to be repositioned to the end for easy measurement of corners.

    Applications

    • Pipeline integrity and rehabilitation assessment
    • Pitting and corrosion evaluation on steel structures and storage tanks
    • Crack depth measurement in metallic and concrete structures
    • Widely used by pipe layers, coating inspectors, and members of the Australian Corrosion Industry and Pipeline Association

    How to Use

    • Zero Calibration: Place the gauge foot firmly on the flat glass mirror sample provided in the kit. Press the zero button on the digital indicator to set the baseline to 0.00mm
    • Surface Positioning: Place the foot flat across the pit, crack, or corrosion site to be measured. Ensure the foot bridges across the sound metal surface surrounding the defect
    • Measurement: Allow the slender needle probe to descend into the center of the pit or crack
    • Reading: Read the exact depth directly from the digital LCD screen. Use the unit conversion button if imperial measurements are required
    • Corner Measurement (125mm model): For measuring close to corners or edges, reposition the digital indicator to the end position of the 125mm blade
