How to Use
- Selecting the Correct Blade: Choose the specific stainless steel blade corresponding to the desired fillet weld size (with fine increments of 1/32" up to 1/2", and 1/16" up to 1") from the 12-piece set
- Checking Fillet Weld Leg Length: Place the straight edge of the blade flat against the base plate and slide it until the tip touches the vertical member, verifying that the actual leg length matches the required specification
- Checking Convex Fillet Welds: Position the single-arc corner of the blade flush against the base material so that the blade tip contacts both the weld face and the vertical member simultaneously, confirming proper convex profile and size
- Checking Concave Welds (Undersize Verification): Position the double-arc corner of the blade flat against the base material and vertical member; if the center tip does not reach the weld face, the weld is concave and undersize, indicating that additional filler metal is required
- Verifying Throat Thickness: Utilize the precision-machined edges and dual-sided die-stamped indicators on the blade to quickly verify both theoretical and actual throat thickness for structural code compliance
