    Product Description

Elevate your welding quality control and inspection standards with the G.A.L. Gage Co. Cat. 4 Bridge Cam Gauge (GAL-4). Designed for professional inspectors, fabricators, and quality assurance teams, this versatile, multi-purpose tool allows you to quickly and accurately measure critical weld parameters in both Inch and Metric units. Engineered for maximum durability and precision, the Bridge Cam Gauge is an essential, all-in-one instrument for structural steel, pipeline fabrication, and heavy industrial applications.

The G.A.L. Gage Co. Cat. 4 Bridge Cam Gauge—widely recognized as the Cambridge Gauge—is the global industry standard for inspecting welded surfaces and joints. Crafted from premium, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, this compact tool replaces multiple individual gauges, saving time and reducing equipment overhead on the job site.

Whether you are verifying surface undercuts, measuring weld reinforcement, checking fillet weld throat and leg dimensions, or inspecting the angle of preparation, the GAL-4 delivers reliable, repeatable results in the most demanding shop and field environments. Trust ABQ Industrial to provide genuine G.A.L. Gage products that ensure your projects meet stringent international welding codes and standards.

    Certification

The G.A.L. Gage Co. Cat # 4 Bridge Cam Gauge can be certified. The certification is not included in the base price and is available at an additional cost. Just add it to cart if your quality control or compliance standards require it.

    Features

    • Dual-Scale Versatility: Features clear, dual graduations in both Inch and Metric units to seamlessly accommodate global project specifications
    • All-in-One Inspection Design: Combines multiple critical weld measurements into a single, pocket-sized tool, streamlining your inspection workflow
    • Rugged Stainless Steel Construction: Built to withstand harsh industrial environments, heavy daily use, and resistance to rust and wear
    • Precision Laser-Etched Markings: High-contrast, laser-engraved graduations ensure long-lasting legibility and prevent fading over time
    • Comprehensive Weld Parameter Coverage: Accurately measures angle of preparation, excess weld metal, depth of undercut/pitting, fillet weld throat size, leg length, and high-low misalignment

    Applications

    • Oil and Gas Pipeline Construction: Ensuring exact internal alignment and root gap tolerances in transmission pipelines
    • Pressure Vessel and Boiler Manufacturing: Verifying critical weld preparations to prevent costly radiographic testing (RT) failures
    • Heavy Industrial Fabrication: Checking structural pipe joints, fit-ups, and plate alignments
    • Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering: Inspecting critical hull welds and structural joints to meet strict maritime standards
    • Weld Inspection and QA/QC: An indispensable tool for third-party inspectors, welding engineers, and quality control technicians

    How to Use

    • Measuring Angle of Preparation: Place the gauge leg against the prepared plate edge and rotate the rotating dial/pointer until it aligns with the bevel angle to read 0° to 60° directly
    • Checking Excess Weld Metal (Reinforcement): Slide the gauge pointer down until it rests on the center of the weld crown. Read the excess weld metal measurement on the scale
    • Determining Undercut or Pitting Depth: Insert the protruding undercut pin into the cavity or pit, rest the gauge base on the base metal, and read the depth measurement in 1/32" increments
    • Measuring Fillet Weld Throat and Leg Length: Utilize the specific throat edges and scribe lines to verify theoretical and actual throat dimensions as well as leg lengths for fillet welds
    • Checking High-Low Misalignment: Use the lower bridge edge to bridge the joint and check for high-low fit-up discrepancies before welding
