The PGD12184 Digital Pit Gauge is an advanced, comprehensive inspection kit engineered to assess corrosion profiles, wall thinning, and pitting depth quickly and accurately on pipelines, storage tanks, and pressure vessels. Featuring interchangeable bridging bars (4", 12", and 18"), a digital indicator with switchable inch/metric scales, ceramic holding magnets, and specialized contact tips, this versatile kit provides NDT professionals and quality control inspectors with unmatched precision in the field or shop.
Inspecting the integrity of oil, water, and gas lines requires reliable, repeatable depth measurements across various surface geometries. The PGD12184 Digital Pit Gauge kit is specifically designed for ease of use and maximum adaptability. By sliding the digital gauge smoothly along the robust bridging bar, inspectors can rapidly plot corrosion profiles. The bridge features notched feet combined with powerful ceramic magnets that prevent rocking on curved pipes and securely hold the unit in place even when working upside down. Thumbscrews enable effortless one-handed operation, while the left-handed scale accurately registers increasing depth as the probe tip descends into the pit.

How to Use
- Select the Bridge: Choose the appropriate bridging bar (4", 12", or 18") depending on the width of the corroded area or surrounding surface profile
- Attach Tips and Extension: Screw the desired probe tip (needle or conical) into the digital gauge, utilizing extension rods if extra reach is required
- Position on Reference Surface: Place the bridge feet firmly onto clean, uncorroded reference metal surrounding the pit. The ceramic magnets will hold the unit securely, even in vertical or overhead positions
- Calibrate / Zero: Adjust the locking screws to calibrate the indicator against the reference surface
- Measure Depth: Slide the digital gauge along the bridging bar allowing the probe tip to drop into the pit. Read the maximum depth directly from the digital display in inch or metric units
