    Product Description

The G.A.L. Gage Co. Cat # 9c Skew-T Fillet Weld Gauge with Calculator is an indispensable, precision-engineered tool designed for welding inspectors, structural engineers, and quality control (QC) professionals. Specifically built for evaluating skewed T-joint fillet welds, this comprehensive kit allows precise measurement of vertical member angles, weld acute sides, and weld obtuse sides. Paired with its dedicated calculation wheel, it simplifies complex mathematical relationships between leg lengths, theoretical throats, skew angles, and inspection dimensions, ensuring total compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Available in either Inch or Metric scales to match your operational requirements.

Accurately inspecting skewed T-joints has never been easier or more reliable. Manufactured in the U.S.A. by G.A.L. Gage Co. from high-grade, rust-resistant stainless steel, the Cat # 9c gauge is built to withstand harsh industrial environments while maintaining long-term calibration accuracy.

In accordance with AWS standards, the acute angle for a skew-T joint typically ranges down to 30 degrees. This gauge features an intuitive sliding pointer mechanism that measures the dihedral angle of the vertical member and the inspection dimension from the bottom toe of the weld. Combined with the included slide-chart calculator, inspectors can instantly compute theoretical throat thickness and leg size without manual trigonometric calculations, significantly boosting on-site inspection efficiency and precision

The G.A.L. Gage Co. Cat # 9c Skew-T Fillet Weld Gauge is also included as a component in several comprehensive welder and inspector kits featured in the Related Products section below.

    How to Use

    • Check the Vertical Member Angle: Place the base of the gauge against the vertical member of the skewed T-joint to verify the dihedral/acute angle (minimum 30° per AWS standards)
    • Measure the Inspection Dimension: Rest the bottom edge of the gauge on the vertical member and adjust the sliding pointer until the tip contacts the bottom toe of the weld. Read the exact measurement off the scale
    • Calculate Weld Parameters: Take your measured acute angle and inspection dimension, then align them on the companion calculator wheel. Read out the theoretical throat thickness and leg size instantly to confirm compliance with engineering drawings
