The new CHECK-LINE Model RFSE Tension Sensors measure the running line tensions of yarn, wires, optic fibers, cables, tapes/bands, wraps/webs, foils and similar process materials.
Its unique strain-gauge design delivers excellent measurement precision and stability as well as providing maximum overload protection. They are used in a variety of low and high-range applications, such as measuring 1 or 2 grams on fine denier yarns/fibers to applications measuring wire/cable up to 500 Kg.
Built-in amplifier provides a 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA output. This sensor requires an unregulated 24 VDC power source. Requires a &quot;zero&quot; adjustment only

TheModel RFS Tension Sensors measure the running line tensions of yarn, wires, optic fibers, cables, tapes/bands, wraps/webs, foils and similar process materials.
RFS stands for enduring online precision. The specified and calibrated accuracy remains unchanged throughout the unit’s service life and, across wide ranges, is independent of the force introduction point, i.e. the sensor is not affected by lever arm action

The functional principle makes for superb sensitivity while at the same time offering enormous performance capabilities. The force acting radially at the bearing journal, along the measurement vector, causes a microscopically small, elastic deformation of the complex load cell. The deformation is registered at an exactly pre-determined position by way of strain gauges and is then evaluated precise electronically.
The high mechanical stiffness of the load cell enables measurement with virtually no excursion.
This tension measurement principle is based on the evaluation of the force applied radially and transferred to the sensor by way of the bearing journal. This force is determined by the reversing geometry and the line tension.

Lightweight 32mm diameter rollers minimize the deflection of the material path for fragile filaments or very low tension applications.
A built-in amplifier conditions the strain gauge signal, providing a 0–1 VDC output, minimizing the chance for signal interference. 
Other important features include user-accessible calibration adjustment pots and gold-plated contacts on the connector.

Lightweight 32mm diameter rollers are offered in Delrin Plastic (specify TE-xx-22-PL) or Harcoated Aluminum (specify TE-xx-22-AL).
Precision strain gauge sensing for highest accuracy and repeatability.
Frequency response of 100 Hz.
0-1 V DC output, proportional to tension (0-10 V DC optional).
Surface mount electronics provide long-term reliability.
Optional 10ft. connecting cable, TE-CABLE-CN is recommended.

The Cantilever sensor roll with integrated force measurement can be installed just like an unilateral installed standard web guide roll without major mechanical modifications.

It is designed to minimize the effects of different material rigidities when measuring on a variety of material sizes and also features a unique &quot;tri-tens&quot; system where the material can be threaded through the 3 rollers in 3 distinct paterns.
Its unique strain-gauge design delivers excellent measurement precision and stability as well as providing maximum overload protection.
5-Roller version is offered to minimize tension fluctuations in applications where the process material vibrates, oscillates or is unsteady.
The 2 additional rollers mounted on top of the process material are mounted on adjustable brackets allowing them to be positioned so that they slightly contact the material
They provide additional control to insure that the process material travels over the three primary rollers (located under the material) in a smooth and even fashion

Important for your order: Please specify model and roller width! Small dual-flanged outer guide rollers are standard. All 3 rollers can be equipped with one flange, if the material to be measured is wider than the rollers. Please request when you order. 
Calibration to customized material: If process material differs significantly from the Electromatic calibration material in diameter, rigidity or shape, special calibration using customer supplied samples is recommended. For this purpose a material sample of about 5 m should be supplied.

RFS stands for enduring online precision. The specified and calibrated accuracy remains unchanged throughout the unit’s service life and, across wide ranges, is independent of:

The force introduction point, i.e. the sensor is not affected by lever arm action
Any axial tilt torques which might appear
Direct axial forces

The functional principle makes for superb sensitivity while at the same time offering enormous performance capabilities. The force acting radially at the bearing journal, along the measurement vector, causes a microscopically small, elastic deformation of the complex load cell. This deformation is registered at an exactly pre-determined position by way of strain gauges and is then evaluated electronically.
The high mechanical stiffness of the load cell enables measurement with virtually no excursion. This tension measurement principle is based on the evaluation of the force applied radially and transferred to the sensor by way of the bearing journal. This force is determined by the reversing geometry and the line tension.

The dual-axis radial force sensor offers two measuring axis, vertically to each other. Force introduction occurs radially at the bearing journal. Any acting force can be splitted vectorially into X- and Y-components.

Fields of application:

Acquisition of axle loads, bearing reactions and unbalances

XY-force measurement on shafts and axles force measurement on pivot joints and crankshafts
Recording of polar force diagrams
The high mechanical stiffness of the load cell enables measurement with virtually no excursion
The specified and calibrated accuracy remains unchanged throughout the unit’s service life and, across wide ranges, is independent of direct axial forces
Both force signals get conditioned with a 2-channel measuring amplifier solution. Value and direction of the acting force are acquired.
For analysis the data can be stored in the PC, e.g. with the software HCC-Easy.
Its export function enables the user to transfer the data to further software for extended analysis, e.g. generating a XY-diagram.

Radial Force Measuring Axle

RMAsensors are used for direct tension measurement in moving webs ofpaper, films, foils, textiles or metals.The bearing journal supportsrolls with internal mounting. Measurement of the web tension is effectedby registering at both sides the radial bearing forces on a web guidingroll.

WTS Web Tension Sensors are used for direct tension measurement in moving webs of paper, films, foils, textiles or metals. Measurement of the precise web tension is accomplished by determining the resulting force that the web directs on to the guide roller connected to these shaft-end sensors mounted at each end of the roller.
It is widely accepted that a well-controlled web operating at defined tension values assures the highest possible end-product quality and is the basis for insuring minimum machine down-times.
The compact WTS sensors in connection with a web guiding roll fulfill 3 functions at once:

Precise measurement of web tension
Guides and deflects the web
Provides bearings for the shafts and rolls



 Features 

Entire sensor housing as well as the measuring cell are fabricated from stainless steel permits use in the toughest production environments including use in hi-humidity environments.
Extremely rugged design is well protected against overloads using integrated mechanical overload stops.
Extended operating temperature range is standard.
Custom mounting provisions are available.
Quick and easy installation due to a variety of clever mounting options: inboard or outboard attachment, flange or pillow block.
Special sensor design elements, including high spring constants allows for highest web speeds without affecting the signal quality.
Can be installed in vacuum environments without any modification

The 136-3-SCF-DC is especially-designed for use in Closed Force System (CFS) applications, where both ends of the material are fixed. This sensor is designed so the cable will pass under the 1st roller and over the center and last roller. This design applies a minimal break angle of the material over the center sensing roller minimizing the error caused by the presence of the tension sensor
With traditional 3-Roller systems where the material travels under/over the rollers in the illustration above, a significant error is generated by the presence of the tension sensor increasing the tension dramatically --- as soon as the sensor is installed. The unique design concept of 136-3-SCF-DC eliminates this problem and provides the only accurate means of measuring tension in these types of applications.
The accuracy of this sensor is further enhanced by its built-in diameter compensator adjustment. The operator simply adjusts the diameter compensator to equal the diameter of the process material being measured and the calibration is automatically adjusted for highest accuracy. The typical measuring error is less than 1%.

EPS is a control dancer and used for closed-loop tension control on winding of endless material. It is a considered and &quot;active&quot; dancer control system. EPS is operated as an electrically controlled P/F actuator providing a large range of adjustment for the user-set desired tension level
The position of the dancer is measured by means of a rotary encoder, giving a standard output signal specially-designed to be able to maintain precise tension control even under high-dynamic speed variations

Functionality using the example of a typical unwinding process: 
At the unwinder a motor-driven chuck supports the material roll. The following process needs material feeding with process-specific dynamic and well-defined tension. 
EPS serves as link between unwinder and process.
 



The material is guided S-shaped over the dancer pulleys.
A torque, which acts on the dancer, is generated electropneumatically.
Tension Fz is proportional to the upcoming torque.
The actual rotation angle of the dancer is output as electric signal.
The dancer is in position control



Material accumulator
Additionally EPS functions as an accumulator. It can dispense or receive the material depending on the dancer position.

Application area is the adjustment of pre-tensioning force and the monitoring of cutting force in rotary die cutters. This is important for a reproducible cutting result and for a long operating life of the cutting unit. 

The Pressure Mate system consists of:




two threaded spindles with built-in force sensors (Axial Force Sensor)
a 2-channel measuring amplifier DMV 05. The cutting force is measured on both bearing positions of the cutting die and is displayed in kg.





The analog output signal of the measuring amplifier is exactly proportional to the real periodic cutting force. It can be recorded and analyzed with HCC-Easy Software
 Info The correct adjustment of the pre-tensioning force and continuous monitoring of the cutting force minimizes the mechanical stress on:




rotary cutting dies
rotary anvils
bearings


toothed wheels
supporting rollers




An increasing cutting force due to temperature for example can be detected and re-adjusted immediately.



Pressure Mate ensures constant high product quality, decreasing downtime and increasing operating life of the cutting dies.

In contrast to hydraulic gauges principally Pressure Mate has no mechanical elastic compliance. It´s a measurement without motion in order to avoid relative movement between rotary cutting die and rotary anvil.
As a result of the sensor´s high mechanical stiffness the cutting process is very stable, free of vibration and precisely.

The Hans-Schmidt TSCB-Series Compact Online Tension Sensor is a purpose-built online tension sensor for continuous measurement of running line tensions of narrow tapes, bands, webs, tows of fiberglass or carbon fibers and similar process materials. The precision-machined housing is constructed allowing for the installation of several sensors in close proximity to one another when the end-to-end spacing of the process material is limited. Multiple sensors can be mounted adjacent to another for fixed to a single rail for quick and easy mounting.. Built-in signal conditioning with ZERO and SPAN pots provide a high-level, analog output to minimize the chance for signal interference.
Can be used for process diagnostics, for continuously monitoring and recording of online tensions. The TSCB Series Tension Sensor can also be used as part of a closed-loop control system with 3rd-Party controller.
Mounting possibilities: Sensor can be mounted on a flat plate using the supplied thru holes on the underside of the housing body or fixed on the optional rail allowing for quick, easy installation and allows for multiple sensors mounted adjacent to one another with minimal spacing.

Features


Strain Gauge-based sensor provides accuracy of 2% Full Scale or better. Sensor can be mounted in any orientation depending upon the material path.
Built-in Signal Conditioner provides 0-1 V DC Analog Output (0-10V or mv/V, optional) with Integrated Zero &amp;amp; Gain Pots on rear-side of sensor allowing for convenient calibration by the end-user for highest accuracy
Supplied with easy-running ball-bearing mounted, flat cylindrical rollers with flanges.
7 mm wide roller is fabricated from nickel-plated steel, 10 mm roller is hardcoat anodized aluminum
Rollers can be supplied with a special carbon-optimized coating (&quot;orange peel&quot;), Option Code CF
Can be used together with SC-PM, PD765 Digital Tension Indicator or with user-supplied electronics (requires 15-24 V DC regulated power).
3-Roller design insures that the center sensor rollers has the same wrap angle at all times which allows the sensor to be mounted in any position on the line

Fined-mounted tension sensor, single rollers system, for mounting at an existing location to create a fixed wrap angle of the material over the sensor rollers.

29.5mm diameter hardened steel v-grooved roller is standard. Optional rollers include a U-Grooved Roller with 5mm radius, 70mm diameter lightweight roller for optic fibers and similar fragile filaments as well as ribbon rollers for flat materials such as tapes/bands, tows, ribbon cable, rectangular wires and similar flat materials.

5 ranges are offered from 0-10N (1Kg) up to 0-200N (20 Kg), rated in resultant force (therefore wrap angle must be taken into account and resultant force calculated)

Determining the Tension Range


 
The tension range can be calculated for every wrapping angle with this formula:
When selecting the nominal measurement force it is necessary to take into account the weight of the guide roll and raise the nominal load respectively, particularly when working with small nominal forces
